The third annual State of the Western Lake Erie Basin Conference was held in Adrian, Michigan, on June 23, 2026. This public event brought together practitioners, researchers, farmers, and community members to hear the latest updates on tri-state progress towards reducing phosphorus in the Western Lake Erie Basin. The conference included a mix of plenary, breakout sessions, and posters focusing on key DAP developments, updates from ongoing projects in the watershed, and community resilience in nutrient pollution management. Attendees heard from keynote speaker and TNC Farmer Advocate Matt Burkholder about the power of generational knowledge in conservation, how to bridge communities, and the pathway to improving soil health. This conference serves as a valuable forum for networking, information-sharing, and collaboration to protect and improve water quality in Michigan’s portion of the Western Lake Erie Basin.
