Michigan Community Climate Action Fellowship

Become a climate leader at U-M, in Michigan, and beyond! Develop your climate literacy, professional skills, community engagement techniques, and more. Apply for the Michigan Community Climate Action Fellowship (M-CCAF), a pilot co-curricular program open to U-M undergraduates on any campus.

M-CCAF will build an interdisciplinary cohort of emerging climate leaders through hands-on experiences inside and outside the classroom. Fellows will cultivate a close-knit community of peers, advisors, and professional partners, developing leadership, collaboration, and project management skills while tackling real-world climate challenges.

The program centers on a summer fellowship with a Michigan Climate Action Network (MiCAN) partner, bookended by short courses in the Winter and Fall terms that provide training in climate literacy, community engagement, working across disciplines, and equity-centered leadership. By pairing students with grassroots organizations, M-CCAF amplifies real-world impact across Michigan while educating a climate-informed workforce.

Participants accepted in this pilot year will help shape a program designed to endure, contributing to a legacy of climate-literate graduates, strong community partnerships, and measurable societal impact. While all U-M undergraduates are eligible, priority will go to first- and second-year students and those new to climate-focused work.
