Paul Zimmerman develops and applies quantum chemical methods to problems in catalysis and solar energy. His research group focuses on understanding the fundamental microscopic mechanisms of energy conversion in solar materials as well as molecular transformations such as carbon dioxide reduction. The new methods developed by the group are allowing new insights into these energetic systems, and will soon demonstrate that design of new catalysts and solar cells can be achieved efficiently with computation.
