Advanced Geovisualization

Advanced Geovisualization

Visuals are becoming increasingly important for communicating and understanding environmental and sustainability issues.  In this course, we will employ an open data science approach to geovisualizations, bringing greater interactivity and knowledge discovery to the highly spatial challenges that we encounter in our professional and research domains. We will learn techniques for extracting insights from spatial data for better communication of our results. The course will cover terrain modelling, semantic analysis, statistical and machine learning techniques, web mapping, and animation using R Studio. Labs and lectures are based on case studies in environmental equity, conservation, global environmental change and urban design, making this course of interest to students broadly.
