Now Available: We All Live Together in a Good Way with Manoomin

The Michigan Wild Rice Initiative (MWRI) is a collaboration among the twelve federally recognized Anishinaabe nations that share geography with the state of Michigan and several Michigan state agencies. Together with federal, NGO, and academic partners, the MWRI is working to restore and revitalize Manoomin (wild rice) while promoting awareness and education of this sacred relative. The MWRI hope to encourage people of all communities to connect with Manoomin in a good way and seek ways to sustain and protect them.

A Legacy of Sustainability Leadership Development

The Graham Sustainability Institute is pleased to announce the newly formed Graham Sustainability Scholars Alumni Advisory Council. Established in 2023, this council consists of alumni from the Graham Sustainability Scholars Program, reflecting the institute's mission to mobilize the expertise and passion of scholars, partners, and decision-makers to work together and bring world-class research to real-world sustainability challenges.

Four New Catalyst Grants Address Climate Resilience and Sustainability

Four newly awarded sustainability catalyst grants are piloting innovative methodologies to bolster climate resilience and sustainability. The projects are funded by the Graham Sustainability Institute.

Engaging researchers from 11 units at the University of Michigan, in collaboration with a diverse array of partners, these projects will explore renewable energy deployment in Nepal, climate justice in the Midwest, textile recycling innovation, and equitable transportation planning.
