This project, conducted by a 2025 Dow Sustainability Fellows team in partnership with the University of Michigan Water Center’s Western Lake Erie Basin (WLEB) program, aimed to address excess phosphorus pollution, which drives harmful algal blooms and threatens ecosystems, public health, drinking water, and the regional economy. The Dow Fellows developed the WLEB Nutrient Reduction Project Directory, a digital dashboard consolidating data from watershed projects. The tool provides a comprehensive map, detailed project tables, and contact and funding information, making it easier for stakeholders to collaborate, share best practices, and avoid duplication. By connecting agencies, nonprofits, researchers, and community groups, the project strengthens strategic, equitable phosphorus management and creates a publicly accessible resource for education, planning, and engagement.
