As data becomes increasingly important, cities are investing more in understanding the value of their resources, including street trees. The City of Livonia conducted an inventory of its street trees, generating extensive data. CLC Fellow Carson Evans analyzed this data and presents his findings in an ArcGIS StoryMap, which provides a high-level overview of data trends. The StoryMap educates Livonia residents on various topics, including the tree benefits, urban heat islands, and local government initiatives. Although tailored for Livonia, it can also serve as a guide for other cities in educating their residents about street trees and creating their own StoryMaps.
