According to the U.S. Department of Energy, over a third of the energy we use in our homes goes to waste. Traverse City Light & Power (TCLP), Traverse City’s municipal electric utility, offers a variety of home electrification and energy efficiency programs to address this issue and would like to get more residents involved. This CLC Fellow worked with TCLP and GreenHome Institute to craft plans for new community engagement strategies that highlight the economic, health, and environmental benefits of sustainable energy practices. These include a guide for putting on an interactive energy fair and a timeline for engaging local youth, both of which can be utilized by communities across Michigan.
