Michaela Zint is an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor at the University of Michigan whose research and teaching focus on how higher education can prepare and empower students to address climate change and other sustainability challenges. Her work examines how educational experiences and institutions can foster sustainability competencies, agency, leadership, and action, as well as how higher education itself can change to better support these outcomes. Her current research includes studies of climate anxiety and agency, climate and sustainability education, experiential and action-oriented learning, and institutional approaches to advancing sustainability. Zint also brings longstanding expertise in program evaluation and social and behavioral science to understanding what works, for whom, and under what conditions. Her scholarship is informed by extensive experience in academic leadership and sustainability education at the University of Michigan and internationally.
