The LIVE has significant expertise and experience in visual simulation, virtual and augmented reality, indoor and outdoor positioning systems, mobile computing, automation and robotics, and their applications in construction, civil engineering, manufacturing, transportation, and other engineering domains. The laboratory's research in recent years has specifically focused on exploring automation and robotics to improve the human experience in the built environment (e.g., mobility, comfort), to improve the sustainability of engineering processes (e.g., construction, operation), and to reduce ability-based inequalities in physically-demanding work (e.g., on-site construction) and life activities (e.g., urban mobility).
