Shobita Parthasarathy is Professor of Public Policy and Women's and Gender Studies, and co-founder and director of the Science, Technology, and Public Policy Program at University of Michigan. She studies how innovation and innovation policy can achieve social equity and justice, in cross-national perspective. Her current projects investigate the politics of market-based “tech for good” initiatives to address poverty and inequality, and how to reimagine university-based research to better achieve social benefit and public accountability. She also leads the Technology Assessment Project, which uses analogically case study methods to anticipate the environmental, social, and equity implications of emerging technologies; TAP's current work focuses on advanced nuclear technologies.
