Based at the University of Michigan, the Global CO₂ Initiative’s mission is to scale the carbon capture and conversion sector to economic and climatological significance. We accelerate waste carbon dioxide utilization in products through a wide range of activities that includes conversion pathway readiness assessments, life-cycle and techno-economic assessment frameworks/practical tools for products that use CO2 as a feedstock, research, individual startup and incumbent company support to solve problems, broader ecosystem convening, campus-wide student training and other activities. Example products include durable storage products such as aggregates and carbon fiber that serve as climate mitigation tools, and circular carbon products such as chemicals and fuels that de-fossilize the economy.
