Nancy Love's research focuses on water in the general area of environmental biotechnology. She studies biological processes in environmental engineering and science with a focus on engineered systems and environmental health applications. Her specific interests include understanding how chemicals cycle through and impact the performance of engineered water systems, and impacts on both aquatic species and humans using chemical and biomolecular-, process- and systems-scale tools. She is also involved with assessing new and innovative water technologies. The Love research group has experience with a range of chemical classes, including: industrial chemicals; xenobiotic compounds such as nanoparticles, pharmaceuticals, hormones and personal care products; and nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients.
