Huaxia Li is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the University of Michigan–Dearborn whose research advances sustainability through the lenses of transparency, technology, and governance. His work explores how artificial intelligence, data analytics, and accounting information systems can strengthen the integrity of financial and environmental reporting across corporate and public sectors.

Dr. Li’s research investigates critical sustainability topics including corporate social responsibility, carbon disclosure, ESG rating divergence, and the detection of corporate greenwashing in heavy-pollution industries. By developing data-driven frameworks to evaluate and improve sustainability reporting, his work supports informed decision-making for investors, regulators, and policymakers striving toward climate accountability and responsible resource management.

He also examines how open government data and emerging technologies can promote fiscal transparency and equitable allocation of public resources, key enablers of environmental justice and global health equity. His work contributes to building more sustainable, accountable, and technologically resilient financial ecosystems that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
