Passionate about empowering marginalized people to more fully participate in systems of power, Caroline recently graduated with joint master's degrees in public policy and environmental science from the University of Michigan (UM), with a focus on environmental justice. She explored issues related to energy equity and land use policy as a Graduate Student Instructor at UM, a Dow Sustainability Fellow serving the Energy Equity Researchers Collaborative, a summer intern with the US EPA's Heat Island Program, and a Yale Environmental Fellow with WE ACT for Environmental Justice. At the Graham Institute, she is editing policy briefs about changes in local property tax revenue from new renewable energy projects in eight Midwest states. Leaning on her background in journalism and public relations, she works to make complex policy concepts and implications accessible to general audiences while remaining succinct and retaining technical accuracy.
