Brandon Marc Finn is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Lecturer at the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan. He holds a Ph.D. in Urban Planning from Harvard University. His research focuses on African urbanization and deals with topics such as informality, spatial inequality, and sustainability in urban environments. Dr. Finn is also conducting research on the historical origins of urban inequality, and the intersection of rapid urbanization and climate change in the Global South. These arms of Dr. Finn’s research program fit broad definitions of urban sustainability, as they interrogate issues of urban and economic development, settlements and climate change, and democratic urban governance. Dr. Finn has published peer-reviewed papers on these topics based on qualitative and historiographical research in several African countries. He will be co-teaching Urban Sustainability (EAS 537) in Fall 2022.
