Bo Yang, MD, Ph.D. completed his Cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Stanford University. His clinical expertise spans the range of complex aortic surgical procedures and other cardiac procedure.  These include valve sparing aortic root replacement, aortic valve repair, repair of aortic aneurysms and dissections in patients with Marfan Syndrome, Loyes-Dietz Syndrome, bicuspid aortic valves, familial thoracic aortic aneurysm and other rare gene mutations associated with aortic aneurysm.  Other adult cardiac procedures include mitral valve repair and replacement, coronary artery revascularization and resection of cardiac tumors. Dr. Yang has been very productive in basic science and clinical research. He and his team use patient’s induced pleuripotent stem cells to model the thoracic aortic aneurysm and study the mechanism of aortic aneurysm in order to develop novel therapies to prevent aortic aneurysm.  Dr. Yang works with bioengineers to generate tissue engineered blood vessels with patients induced pleuripotent stem cells.  Also, he works with his clinical team on focused outcome research in the areas of aortic and adult cardiac surgery.
