Bhavya is a sophomore at the University of Michigan, pursuing Bachelors of Science in Economics and the Program in the Environment. She is also a student in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts Honors Program and the Residential College. As a Research Assistant for the U-M Water Center, Bhavya supports farmer behavioral science research to reduce nutrient pollution in the Western Lake Erie Basin and facilitates workshops for agricultural stakeholders.

Connecting her economics, statistics, and programming skills, Bhavya is particularly interested in identifying financial incentives and barriers to sustainable practice adoption to improve water, air, and soil quality for the benefit of people, plants, and animals. She also draws on her previous policy experience as a member of the Princeton Youth Advisory Committee and her significant volunteer experience for the Spotted Salamander Crossing Brigade to center her work on community engagement and outreach. Bhavya has presented her research at several statewide policy conferences, elementary schools, and community events. She has received Outstanding Poster Awards from Princeton University and the University of Michigan.
