A Graham Scholars team partnered with the Marygrove Community Association (MCA) to create an inclusive green space that integrates ecological sustainability with community engagement, enhancing climate resilience. The team worked closely with MCA leadership and conducted extensive outreach through events such as the MCA Holiday Bazaar and Green Alley Town Hall, gathering valuable input from the community to shape the design.
Deliverables included a comprehensive Community Engagement Plan, surveys from the Holiday Bazaar, event insights from the Town Hall, and design renderings for both the Green Alley and the nearby Indiana Street Garden. These materials will guide future grant applications and help secure funding for green stormwater infrastructure features like rain gardens and bioswales.
The project aims to reduce flooding, foster environmental stewardship, and provide a social venue for the community. As it progresses, the Green Alley Project will continue to build climate resilience and support the long-term sustainability of the Marygrove neighborhood.
