(Dow Fellows Program 2021)

The State of Michigan has policies and programs to address climate, energy, and water that will also help to achieve Michigan’s water conservation and efficiency goals established under the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River Basin Water Resources Compact (Compact). Working in partnership with Michigan’s Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), a 2021 Dow Fellows team assessed the current contributions of Michigan’s sustainability policies toward water conservation objectives, identified initiatives from other water-rich states that could be modified to serve Michigan’s objectives, and determined sources of funding and assistance to advance such work. The Dow team then provided EGLE with a set of recommendations to both enhance water conservation efforts and honor the terms of the Compact.
