Paul Webb's research interests derive from studies on energetics and functional morphology, notably mechanics and functional morphology of fishes and mechanics of freshwater marsh plants. These studies have lead to development of a major focus on management of Great Lakes shorelines, primarily marshes, focusing on fish assemblages and impacts of human practices, and best practices for sustainable uses and restoration.
