My research interests are based on a passion for studying spatially-explicit interactions and feedbacks among components of environmental systems. I strive to promote both the development of physics/process-oriented models of water, energy, and element cycles at the plant, hillslope, catchment, and larger scales and the integration of data and models. My specific focus is land surface hydrology and, in particular, spatial aspects of the catchment hydrological response and interplay among the hydrologic and vegetation processes. As core research objectives in the coming years, I envision the understanding and characterization of impacts, feedbacks, and uncertainties associated with the propagation of large-scale climate/weather signals, disturbances, and extremes through watershed systems. Further, I would like to address how such large-scale processes affect system variables at the scales relevant to human actions and ecosystem services.
