Kristen is interested in the intersections of science and community; how policymakers, community members, and scientists can cooperate to solve environmental problems. She has worked at the Hands-On Museum, as a farm hand at the Community Farm of Ann Arbor, and as a Sustainable Living Experience peer mentor. Her research has included developing a way for citizens to monitor suspended sediment concentration in surface waters, writing code to organize ecology data, and analyzing the microbial ecology of Microcystis cyanobacteria and she hopes to study ecology and earth systems in the future.
