Edward Rutherford's current research interests are GIS-based classification and analysis of Great Lakes fisheries habitats, ecological and economic impacts of watershed restoration on salmonid productivity in Great Lakes tributaries, impacts of watershed fragmentation and restoration on fish habitat, migration and production in Great Lakes tributaries, salmonid spawning stock abundance, recruitment, and exploitation in the Muskegon River, Michigan, and dynamics of alewife recruitment variability in Lake Michigan.
