Dan Brown's research focuses on the process of land-use change and their effects on ecosystem services and on human livelihoods. This work connects computer-based simulation (e.g., agent-based modeling) of land-use-change processes with GIS, remote sensing, and social data. He is working to understand how land-use decisions are made and the consequences of change in the USA, China, Mongolia, and Africa. He also collaborate to understand social and environmental contributors to human health outcomes and disparities.
