Grants from the Student Sustainability Coalition

SSC offers funding for student-led initiatives that further campus sustainability.

  • Planet Blue Student Innovation Fund (PBSIF) grants provide up to $50,000 annually for ambitious, student-initiated projects that reduce the university’s environmental footprint and promote a culture of sustainability on campus. We give priority to projects that are innovative, visible, and transformative. Other criteria include factors such as student involvement and interest, economic payback, and partnerships facilitated within the U-M community. The application period has ended for the 2019-2020 academic year, but will reopen in fall 2020. See past funded PBSIF projects.
  • Small-Scale Sustainability Grants provide up to $2,500 in support of projects that advance sustainability on campus, including special events. Applications are accepted anytime and evaluated on a rolling basis.
  • Diversity of Thought in Sustainability Grants provide up to $2,500 in support of projects that advance social sustainability at U-M and benefit more than a single group of U-M students. Applications are accepted anytime and evaluated on a rolling basis.
