Forecasting Dead Zones and Toxic Algal Blooms - Video

U-M researchers and their partners are forecasting an average, but still large, "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico this year. The forecast calls for an oxygen-depleted zone roughly the size of Connecticut. But what exactly is a "Dead Zone" -- and what are the conditions for, and consequences of, "Harmful Algal Blooms"?
