Fundamentals of fluid mechanics applications to the environment. Gravity and tidal waves. Internal waves and stratified flow. Models for turbulent flow. Effects of the earth's rotation, wind-driven currents and boundary resistance. Mass transfer at interfaces, entrainment and mixing. Flocculation and settling of colloidal particles. Shear dispersion in stream and estuaries.
