Culture, Class, and Conflict in Southern Africa

A broad overview and detailed exploration of society, economy, and polity in Southern Africa.  The major focus of the class is on conflict: its roots, its forms, and its impact.  This cross-disciplinary course will be concerned with both the historical background and the contemporary situation.
